Kimberly Anatrice Catchings was born August 14, 1970 in Crystal Springs, MS, to Francine Catchings and Herman Wheeler. Kim confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Pilgrim Missionary Church under the leadership of Reverend W.B. Keaton.
Kim’s life though short to those of us left behind, was fulfilled in her relationship with Christ and those of us left behind were blessed by her existence and personality. She was strong and resilient in many aspects of her life. Not a day went by where Kim didn’t talk about how much her children, grandchildren, and family meant to her. Kim loved to cook, listen to music, and spend time with her grandchildren.
Kim leaves to celebrate her life, her mother, Faye (Claiborne)Catchings-Pickett of Crystal Springs, MS; two sons, Kourtney (Alexandra) Catchings of Urbana, IL and Brandon (Destani) Markham of Champaign, IL; her grandchildren, Kevin, Aaliyah, Ariyah, Sariyah, Audrianna, Kyrie, and Kameron; two sisters, Lisa (Alonzo) Clark-McFarland of Champaign, IL and Myeshia Botley of Jackson, MS; two brothers, Eric and Derek Botley of Jackson, MS; and, a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Francine Botley; her father, Herman Wheeler; maternal grandmother, Ola Mae Johnson; and, a loving companion, La’Nord “Snook” Mallet.
Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday September 9, 2023 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Urbana.
