Judith Kay Lucas Grundy (Judy Kay) of Danville, IL transitioned from this life on Friday, October 14, 2022, in Houston, TX.  Judy was born on August 1,1952 to Arnetta Lucas.

Judy attended and graduated from Danville High School. She was formerly employed by the Vermillion County Community Action Agency in the Head Start Program as a childcare worker.

Judy was initially married to Lincoln Pegeese. That union produced a daughter, Danielle Delise, who passed away at a young age. Judy later married William Grundy, who preceded her in death. Judy was also preceded in death by her mother, Arnetta, and two sisters, Ellen Danelle, Damita Jo, and Sister-Cousin Dorii Michelle.

Judy’s affectionate personality endeared her to friends and family far and wide.

She was an avid reader and had a deep passion for music. Her favorite genre was jazz, and she was quite knowledgeable of its history, artists, and current trends.  She was a Jeopardy aficionado and played whenever she could.

She leaves to cherish her memory one brother, Leslie (Marguerite) of Pembroke Pines, FL; four sisters, Jacqueline (Earl) Minor of Champaign, IL; Gayle of Chicago, IL, Anna Jean/Aziza (Tim) Varnado of Los Angeles, CA; Delise (Bruce) Means of Hemet, CA; Brother-Cousin, Rory (Betsy Lucas of Minneapolis, Minnesota; an uncle, George of Renton WA; a special aunt, Marlene Davis of Houston, TX, along with a host of cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Judy’s jubilant life will be honored at a Celebration of Life gathering on November 12, 2022, at 12 PM at the reception hall of New Life Church of Faith located at 1419 N. Bowman Avenue, Danville, IL. Friends and family are welcome to attend.
