On the early morning of July 2, 2026, Joyce Hale-Dudley peacefully transitioned from labor to reward. While our hearts ache because of her absence, we find comfort knowing that she loved the Lord and faithfully served Him. Her faith was the foundation of her life.
Joyce was born on June 9, 1955, to Andrew and Ollie (Williams) Hale in Danville, Illinois. She attended Danville Public Schools and was a 1974 graduate of Danville High School. She was previously married to Brian Dudley, who preceded her in death.
Anyone who knew Joyce knew she was a woman with a strong spirit. She wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and if she believed something, you knew exactly where she stood. She liked things to go her way, but beneath that determined spirit was a heart full of love, compassion, and generosity. She was genuine, honest, and loyal to those she loved. Joyce had a way of lifting your spirits with a compliment or a word of reassurance just when you needed it most. Her laughter, her straight-forward conversations, and her words of encouragement will forever echo in our hearts.
As one of the elder siblings, Joyce helped shape the lives of those who came behind her. To her family, Joyce was a source of strength, wisdom, and love. Through life’s celebrations and challenges, she remained connected to those she loved. Her presence filled every room with her unmistakable personality, and her absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled. Although we grieve today, we do not grieve without hope. We rejoice in knowing that Joyce placed her trust in the Lord. As Scripture reminds us in 2 Timothy 4:7-8: “I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day.”
Joyce loved her church families. In Danville, she was a member Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and assisted with the Food Pantry. In Dallas, TX, she was a member of Friendship Missionary Baptist Church where she was the Youth Ministry Director, member of the Senior choir, and Golden Girls Praise Team Ministry. She was always willing to witness to others and share her love for Christ.
In her spare time, she loved dancing, listening to music, playing Bingo, photography and spending time with her family. She was a past member of the Tomahawks Softball team and was a member of the Laura Lee Fellowship House Women’s Auxiliary.
Joyce leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her legacy; her loving son, Jher Hale of Houston, Texas, Her devoted mother; Ollie Hale of Danville, IL, grandchildren; Darione, Jamar, and Jaylyn Hale, all of Texas, who brought joy to her life, Sisters; Pat Lomax, Jean Hale, and Melissa Hale of Danville, IL, and Barnale (Douglas) Walker of Dallas, TX, Brothers; Kenny (Kim) Hale of Nashville, TN, and Arthur (Tammy) Hale of Danville, IL. She was blessed with
· a large family and many lifelong friends. In addition to her immediate family, she leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, extended relatives and close friends, all of whom will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Brian Dudley, Father; Andrew Hale, Sister; Beverly Williams, and Brother; Matthew Hale.
Joyce’s race is finished. Her work on earth is complete, and she now rests safely in the arms of our Savior. Joyce, we want to thank you for your love, your honesty, your strength, your encouragement, and the countless memories you’ve given us. We will miss your voice, your laughter, your hugs, and even your determination to have things done your way. You have left an imprint on our hearts that time can never be erased. Until we meet again, rest peacefully in the presence of the Lord.
God is Love.
