Joscelyn Jimette Lillard Davis transition onto Glory on July 10th in the comfort of her sons Phillip E. (Yolanda) Davis home. Joscelyn was born September 20, 1955 to Emma Louvenia White Lillard and James Woodard. Joscelyn; known as JoJo was the youngest of six and the only girl; She grew up in Carver Park University, Danville , IL. JoJo attended elementary school at St. Patrick Catholic School; East Park Middle School and graduated with honors from Danville High School. Both middle and High School JoJo was enrolled in the AVID Program for Advanced Academic students. JoJo was a devoted wife and proud devoted mother of 4 and grandmother of 8 grandchildren. A woman of strength, wisdom and integrity that loved life and was respected and loved by many; said what she meant and meant what she said. JoJo had a strong work ethics; she worked until she retired from McClain then she went on to work at Burlington until the onset of her illness. She believed in the importance of having your own.
Joscelyn was preceded in death by her parents Emma Louvenia White Lillard and James Woodard, her Husband James E. Davis, her mother and father n law; Oliver Anderson and Fannie Mae( Jones) Davis , Brothers & Sister n law Oliver Davis, Richard Davis, Donald Hollis , George Davis and Augustus R. Sloan , and special nephew Jamaule Davis. Special friends Vanessa Collier and Thelma Dye.
Surviving are her children; Najee Shabazz ( Stefhance Murray) Davis, Shamus Demar Davis , Phillip Eugene ( Yolanda) Davis , & Nicole Vannote. Grandchild; D’Vaughnte. Robinson, Myah Johnson Davis, Mahiya Johnson Davis, Zy’mir Davis, Phillip Eugene Davis Jr., Aniyah Davis, Anthony Crider, and Myricle Vannote. Siblings; Kenneth D. Lillard, Yakini Shakir, Luther Hunter, Larry D. Lillard and Phillip (JoAnda) Lillard. Speical nieces Dea M. Snoddy, Tasha Lillard, Nina Jackson and Jafaye Lillard. Special shout out to her Road Dogs; Harvetta Rose, Gayle Miles, Darien Taylor and Jackie Smith. Also a Special shout out to her Juice crew and a host of family and friends.
A Celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Wednesday July 19, 2023 at Leek and Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams Danville. Eulogist: Rev. Joseph Davis. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
