Johnnie Johnson Obituary

Johnnie Sue Johnson of Champaign, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior, on Monday, June 14, 2021 at the age of 75.

 

Johnnie Sue was born in Corinth, Mississippi on March 25, 1946 to the late Gustavia Slater and Ocie Burrows, and was raised by her late grandparents Susie and William Slater of Corinth, Mississippi. She graduated from Easom High School in 1965. Johnnie Sue was a long and faithful member of the Church of the Living God in Corinth, Mississippi.

 

Johnnie Sue, as we knew her, loved to cook and entertain family and guests. Her passion was raising her children as well as several others and foster care. Her favorite hobby was playing (winning) cards.

 

Johnnie Sue leaves to cherish her precious memories of her children, Syreeta Johnson of St. Louis, Sidron Johnson (Stacy Johnson) of Urbana, IL, Nichole Teague of Champaign, IL, Shirley Johnson of Booneville, MS, Charmelle Johnson of Champaign, IL, James Johnson of St. Louis, MO, Jamario Johnson of St. Louis, MO; four sisters Stella Davis, Lynnette Burrows, Kenyatta (Carver) Cooks and Wanda (John) King; 23 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and relatives.

 

Johnnie Sue was preceded in death by her loving husband Sidney Johnson of forty-seven years; her parents and grandparents; siblings Betty Sue Walker and Byron Burrows; and her great-grandson Ahmad Ja’Meer Times.

A  Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday June 22, 2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Eulogist: Byron John Ambassador of Christ. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions will be enforced.
