John Robinson IV Obituary

John Robinson IV, age 67, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved wife, Laurie Robinson, and his devoted sister, Debra Watson, a nurse practitioner. John was born on January 9, 1958, in Danville to John "Kag" Robinson and Ernestine Mitchell Robinson. He was the eldest of six siblings.

John received his early education at St. Patrick’s Catholic School and graduated from Schlarman High School. He went on to attend the University of Illinois. In 1984, John met the love of his life, Laurie Jean Rowe, and the two were united in marriage on August 15, 1992. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised two sons, Justin Michael Robinson and Jordan Andrew Robinson. John was a proud and loving grandfather to Zureigh and Eiden, whom he affectionately adored.

Professionally, John served as a supervisor at the Vermilion County Highway Department. He was known for his strong work ethic and leadership. Outside of work, John had many passions. He loved golfing—especially with his son Jordan—playing the drums, keyboard, and darts, and indulging in his favorite pastime, racing on Gran Turismo. A dedicated Chicago sports fan, he cheered for the Cubs, Bears, Bulls, and his alma mater’s team, the Fighting Illini.

John was actively involved in his sons' athletic lives, proudly coaching them in football, baseball, and basketball. More recently, he cherished bonding with his granddaughter, Zureigh, through her involvement in softball and treasured time spent with his grandson, Eiden. Known for his culinary skills, John was especially celebrated for his mouth-watering ribs and thick hamburgers—favorites at every family gathering.

John truly lived life to the fullest, and his joy, kindness, and humor left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Jean Robinson; sons, Justin Michael and Jordan Andrew Robinson; grandchildren, Zureigh and Eiden; siblings, Debra (Mark) Watson of Danville, Gary (Verma) Robinson of Blue Springs, Missouri, Carolyn (Lamont) Brown of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Charles (Candy) Robinson of Danville; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He also leaves behind dear family friends Madonna and Marcus Natt, and his lifelong best friend, Greg Bourn, whom he loved like a brother.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John “Kag” and Ernestine Robinson; his baby sister, Sondra Compton; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles.

John—affectionately known as “Johnny”—will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His legacy of love, laughter, and loyalty will forever live on in the hearts of those he touched.
