John Moore Obituary

Our beloved John Harlan Moore (70) died at 7:40 am on Friday, October 24, 2025 at Goldwater Care in Danville, Illinois surrounded by his family. John was born December 5, 1954 to John Booker Moore and Luvene Cottrell-Moore.

John leaves to cherish his memories, his wife Gail Moore for 31 yrs. (29 married), Sons Jason (Juanita) and Michael Moore, two bonus Children, Talisha Brigham and Desmond Mockabee, his Sister Darlene Harrison, Grandchildren JaBrisha, SanArial, JaVon, JayRee, Orlondo, Makayla, Makhya, Aliyah,  Michael, Tanea, Tylan, Tayla, Taraji, Tionni and Desmond Jr., Great-grandchildren Mylah, Luna, Emancio, Jaioni, Jayden, LaMaryon, Kayden, TyErre, Kovu, Edison, Alonnah, Javon, Carter, Santana and Harlen Moore, his Nephew Anthony Harrison (Heather), Special family and friends Maurice McKinney, Richard King, Bruce Moore, Laddie Tims andRayland Jackson and a host of additional family and friends. 

John was a 1973 Graduate of Danville High School where he played on the football and wrestling team, John was involved with the local youth he coached the WITY little league baseball team and the Meade Park Cowboys football league. John accepted Christ at an early age at Union Baptist Church in Danville and later joined the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Church Deacon, Financial Officer, Trustee and Sunday School Teacher.  John was a journeyman electrician and was employed with the IBEW Local 538 for 36years. 

John was preceded in death by his parents John Booker and Luvene Moore, Sister Linda Lou, Grandparents and Great-Grandparents.

Celebration of life will be held on Monday November 3, 2025 at Philadelphia Baptist Church 423 N. Washington. Visitation will begin at 11 until the time of the service. Eulogist Pastor, Courtney Watson. Interment: Springhill Cemetery.
