Joan A. Robinson, 85, of Danville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center on May 1, 2026, surrounded by her children and husband of 54 years. Mrs. Robinson was born on April 9, 1941, in Gary, Indiana to Opal E. (Hassel) Williams and Frank S. McGee. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, Larry McGee.
Joan is survived by her beloved husband, Charles “Chuckie” L. Robinson, Sr. and her
five loving children: Eric (Lynn) A. Glapion; Shelly (Pati) Y. La Botte; JoAnne “Gigi”
(Donnell) Clark; Charles “Little Chuckie” L. Robinson, Jr.; and Lisa E. Robinson and blessed with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren.
Joan was a graduate of George Washington High School in San Francisco, California, and later returned to Danville, Illinois, in 1965. She worked for over 26 years in the Accounts Payable Department at Walgreens Corporate Accounting and was also employed by Royal Donut, General Electric, and Bohn Aluminum. She later worked affectionately side by side with her husband in their family business, Kag’s Barbecue.
Joan treasured the uniquely beautiful sisterly bond she shared with Myra Washington and held close the love of her nephews, nieces, cousins, and dear friends.
Joan was a woman of strength, grace, and quiet resilience. She raised five beautiful children with endearing determination, and steady unwavering support, a quiet foundation rooted in the love she always gave so freely. While feisty in spirit and full of class, she was a strong, independent woman who preferred a private life but carried a deep compassionate heart for her community and those close to her. She found joy in life’s simple pleasures—reading, working on crossword puzzles, taking casino bus trips, and never missing a chance to play her Pick 4 and Bingo cards.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Monday May 11, 2026 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Danville. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Charles L. Robinson Jr. Entombment will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
