Jessica A. Smith

Jessica A. Smith 69, passed away peacefully at her home, on July 22, 2022, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 18, 1952 in Memphis TN to Monroe and Christine Smith.

She was a 1970 graduate of South Side High School in Memphis TN. She went on to attend Christian Brothers University, graduating with a bachelors degree in English. Jessica was an educator for over 35 years, teaching in the Memphis public school system, Danville Area Community College, and also Danville District 118. She retired from Dist 118 in 2009. 

Jessica was a member of Second Baptist Church and had a deep passion for working within the church, whether it be with the Christian Education Committee, Vacation Bible School, or Sunday School. She also truly enjoyed spending time with her family, reading, gardening, and most recently teaching Bible study. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, her two children, Christopher Bougard and Courtney Smith, her two granddaughters, Christen Bougard and Destiny Dye, one brother, Harold Smith, and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, an aunt, a sister, and a sister in law. 

Home going celebration will commence at 12 noon on Saturday, July 30 at Second Baptist Church, 940 N Franklin, Danville, IL. Eulogist: Pastor Gregory Stoner. Visitation will begin at 11am until the time of service. Burial will follow after at SpringHill Cemetery.
