Janice Lee Carter was born January 16, 1945, to Mrs. Lee Ella Kelly and Mr. Clarence Severado of Danville, Il. She attended Danville schools and graduated from Danville High School. She married her high school sweetheart LeRoy Carter. They were married for 57 years, together they have five children.

Janice accepted Christ at the age of 15 and was a lifetime member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church. As a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, she served in the choir and was appointed to assist the Mother Board. She was active in the Sunday School department for over 30 years. She served as the Superintendent of the primary Sunday School classes. As a beginner’s class teacher, she instilled the Word of God into her students through arts and crafts, songs, and skits. She had a humble spirit of hospitality. She played a significant role on the hospitality auxiliary. She actively supported all auxiliaries of the church. She served with her husband in the food pantry ministry and continued to work after his passing. She was an active member of the Sisters Obliged to Serve ministry for 15 years. Her dedication and commitment to God was demonstrated through her many works and will be greatly missed.

Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She regularly supported her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren in their school and extracurricular activities.
