Janet (Punkin) Hamilton, 74 departed this life peacefully on Friday January 31, 2025 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Hospital in Mattoon, IL. Janet, born to Katherine (Pie) Hamilton on November 16, 1950 in Alton, IL.
Janet was a member of Union Baptist Church of Danville, IL and Union Baptist of Alton, IL. She graduated Alton High School, received her Associate of Applied Science Degree, her Nurse's Aid Certificate and Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Development. Janet worked at Community Action as a head start teacher until her retirement. She loved helping children and teens so much she helped co-create a program; PACT Peer Approach Counseling by Teens at Laura Lee Fellowship hall.
Janet loved cooking, and she made sure everyone had a plate. She loved to listen to music (oldies but goodies), read her books, put together her puzzles and watch her westerns. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and her great grandchildren whether it be doing any of those things. She was one really for the family.
Janet Leaves to cherish her memories with; Lamont Sean Williams of Alton, IL, 5 children Sherri Adams of Danville, IL, Robin Hamilton of Champaign, IL, Kim Hamilton of Indianapolis, IN, Robert (Jennifer) Hamilton of Silvis, IL, Anthony (Dekee) Hamilton of Las Vegas, NV, and J'Marrco (Mya) Banks of Florissant, MO. Janet has 23 grandchildren and 39 great grand children. She has a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends.
Janet was preceded in death by her mother Katherine (Pie) Hamilton, her brother Clyde (Tony) Hamilton, 2 grandsons, Javion Alan Bibb, Allen Wayne Johnson Jr, and great grandson Meerick Merriweather. Most of all she was loved by all who loved her.
The family of Janet Hamilton would like to acknowledge with deep appreciation; every prayer uttered, every kind word of expression or sympathy extended to us at this time during our bereavement to console our hearts. We say Thank You.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday February 7, 2024 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Danville. Eulogist: Minister Wilson. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment: Sanhill Memorial Park.
