James Robertson Obituary

James L. Robertson, 90 of Rantoul, Illinois, formerly of Wedowee Alabama, departed this life Sunday, June 25, 2023, at Autumn Leaves Memory Care facility in Savoy, Illinois.

James Lawrence Robertson was born October 27, 1932, in Wedowee, Alabama. He married Olevia Anderson on August 18, 1955, in Champaign, Illinois. To this union was born four daughters, Glenda, Mirenda, Nadine (1962 - 2016) and Stacie.

James enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1951. He served during both the Korean and Vietnam war. Upon his retirement from 25 years of military service, he returned to Illinois where he worked at Caradco, CS Johnson, and as a greeter at Walmart sharing his fun personality with everyone entering through his door.  James was an active and faithful member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a marshal, usher, Sunday School teacher, photographer, van driver and willingly helpedwherever he was needed.

James enjoyed activities such as golfing, bowling and traveling.  He especially enjoyed traveling with his three grandsons Quinton Tardy, Ryne Robertson and Demetrius Scott. He preferred to take road trips rather than flying so with the grandsons in tow it was more than just a road trip.  It was more than just arriving at a destination; it was about the journey.  All three grandsons will cherish the fond memories and shared stories of their road trips with grandpa.

James is survived by his brother Bill Robertson, Florida, his daughters Glenda Robertson, Illinois, Mirenda Robertson, Virginia, and Stacie Robertson, California. His three grandsons Quinton Tardy, Illinois, Ryne Robertson, Illinois and Demetrius Scott (Porsche), Florida and his four great-grandsons Tyrell (Quinton) Kaiden (Quinton) Cameron (Demetrius) and Bryson (Demetrius). He was preceded in death by both his parents Jack Trammell and Hattie Harris, his wife Olevia Anderson Robertson, his brother Manuel Robertson, and his daughter Nadine Robertson.

James Lawrence Robertson has departed this life and will be missed by many, but he leaves behind treasured memories and lasting impressions that will remain within the hearts and minds of everyone who knew him.
