James Bernard Jones Sr.

James Bernard Jones was born March 20, 1970, in Chicago, IL, to loving parents, Bennie Ruby Mae Jones Lee and Johnny Smith.  James attended Florence B. Price Elementary School and Dr. Martin Luther King High School.

James was affectionately known by his middle name, Bernard. James loved, adored and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a family man that got along with everyone.  A typical day in the life of James, would consist of, sitting in front of the television with the remote control in his hand, waiting on a commercial, on so he could mute the TV and pick on one of his children.  

James did not enjoy doing much outside of the house. However, he would occasionally bowl.  

James departed this life on June 4, 2020. 

James Bernard Jones leaves to cherish his loving memory, his father, Johnny Smith, his children, Archie Phillips, James Jones Jr., Chanikqua Phillips, Deniro Jones, Jeannetta Jones, Martell Jones, Brianna Jones, and Sharon Jones, 14 grandchildren, his siblings, Jeannetta Jones, Fred Jones, Sharon Jones and a host of family members and friends.  

James was preceded in death by his mother Bennie Ruby Mae Jones Lee and grandmothers Josephine Jones and Amanda Smith. 

A Celebration of Life will commence at 12noon, Saturday, June 12, 2021, at Leek & Sons FH-Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11am until the start of the service. Officiating Pastor Ricky Hoskins.
