James Edward Eugene Davis (Paw Paw) was Born on March 28, 1958, in Danville, Il to the Late Oliver Davis Sr. and Fannie May Davis. While he was the youngest out of that Relationship. He had nine siblings all together.
James was very Educated, and he was the Jack of all trades there was nothing that he couldn’t do and if so, he still gave it a try, very creative man he loved being around family and friends James was a long-time family of Duckett - diamond pawnshop where he retired from, and work for dis 118 first student there was a couple thing that James had a lot of passion for and enjoy doing things like working and collecting Cars and fishing with his boys and singing and stepping with his girls talking and being around his grandchildren, and visiting and hanging with his siblings’ he also enjoyed riding his bike and Motorcycle and traveling . And when it came to the story telling you would be in for a ride, he had a lot of jokes to tell that would make you laugh he loved cooking and listing to music James was a man that did not mind telling you how he felt especially if he took you as his own. He had a big sense of humor you couldn’t do anything but love him and on holidays he knew someone had a Carmel cake for him.
James was a Loving and amazing son, father, and Grandfather, Brother, uncle, cousin and friend he was a hero sent from heaven he love and care for everyone he did not mind helping if can he took everyone in like they was one of his own and everyone loved him that’s how he became everyone( Pawpaw ) James never missed a beat when it came to family even know he didn’t have a car at the time if you called he definitely was pulling up. James loved all his children.
James was Preceded in Death by his mother and Father, Fannie may (Jones) Davis and Oliver Anderson Davis Sr. Four Brother’s. Oliver A Davis Jr, Richard V. Davis Sr., Donald Hollis, and George W. Davis, Sister; Augustus R. Sloan. Grandson Daymarko Tolefree and Longtime Spouse; Deborah Tolefree.
IN James Departure he leaves to Cherish his memories his: Wife Joscalyn Davis four sons; Phillip’s (Yolonda)Davis, Shamus Davis, Stephance (Najee Shabazz) Murray, John Ervin, and Five Daughter’s Nicole Venote. Deloise (Robert)Tolefree-Nelson, Barbara Tolefree, Janice Avant, Leah Ferrell and his Loving 22 Grandchildren and non-biological Grandchildren and Siblings; Tawanda (Alfred)Kirkland, Walter (Dorothy)Davis, Varence (Clifford)Davis-Cowen, Gwen o. Davis- Simms, Nieces, and nephews that he held deer to his heart along with a host of family and friends.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Thursday June 15, 2023 at Leek And Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Expeditor Rev Joe Davis. Eulogist:
Bishop Barry Elliott. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
