Jacque A. Crushshon was born on April 25, 1954, in Detroit Michigan to the late Herbert Crushshon and the late Bernice (Collier) Turner.
Jacque was baptized at an early age. He loved the Lord and spent many hours reading and studying the Word of God and discussing with whoever was willing.
Jacque was a gifted drummer, playing with several groupsincluding Masters of Soul around Danville. He served four years in the U.S. Army and was part of the U.S. Marching Band.
After honorable discharge from the US Army, Jacque worked at the Black Beauty Coal Mine in Catlin IL. He later relocated with his daughter, Kaylee, to Harrisburg Illinois. There he worked at Peabody Energy Coal Mine until his health required him to retire.
Jacque loved to play his drums, read and watch movies with his daughter. He was always upbeat and seemed to never meet a stranger. When it became necessary for him to enter the nursing facility, Jacque spent the majority of his time walking all overand talking to everyone he met. He was well known for greeting people with “Hey Mama!” and “God Bless You!”
Jacque leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter Kaylee Ruth of Champaign; sister, Kim (Rufus) Nelson of Peoria, IL and brother, Brett (Carolyn) Dupree of Danville; his nieces Terrion Williamson of Chicago and Destinee Dupree of Traverse City, Michigan and nephews John “Trey” (Tonya) Turner of Champaign, Rufus (Brianna) Nelson Jr of Peoria and Isaiah Dupree of Melbourne, Florida. Also missing him dearly are his aunt Mildred Collier of Danville and Uncle Cecil Collier of North Carolina. He also had two special sons who will miss him: Kyle Robinson of Orlando, Florida and Kwon Robinson of Champaign.
We want to acknowledge special thanks to Cousins BrendaBrown who always checked on Jacque to make sure he was being taken care of and Val Collier who always made sure his hair and beard were cut and shaped.
Jacque was preceded in death by his parents, stepfathers Lucian Dupree and John Turner I, stepbrother John “Pluke” Turner II, Uncles Harry Collier, Nathaniel Collier and Joe Crushshon, Aunts Lillian Russell, Flora “Sis” Collier, Lillian Turner and Jacqueline (Drew) Prestwood.
Special thanks to the people at Gardenview Manor, Arcadia and Accolade Nursing Homes. There were many who always remembered him and had good things to say about him. Amen!
