Indea Rosa Carter Dorsey

Indea Rosa Carter-Dorsey was born to Jonathan Carter and Rosa Lee Dorsey on Saturday March 16, 1985 in Champaign IL. She graduated from Centennial High School (Class of 2003) in Champaign IL. While attending high school Indea was a Step Student in the STEP Program 2002. After high school Indea attended Parkland College where she studied her compassion for Fine Arts. One of her many occupations was a Home Care Provider after she completed her CNA license at Urbana Adult Education.

As Indea became medically disabled, she enhanced her love for art by drawing portraits of her family members along with other creative ideas. She liked to write as well which lead her to keep a journal and write heart felt poems.

On July 31, 2005, God blessed Indea with her loving daughter Zaniya Carter-Dorsey. Indea and Zaniya's love was inseparable and will always be a cherished memory in Zaniya's heart as the years to come.

Indea loved the Lord, family, and friends. She attended church while here on earth as much as possible, loved being at family gatherings and kept in contact with a lot of friends through text messages, emails and social media.

Indea gained her wings on June 22, 2020 12:44 PM @ Carle Hospital, Urbana IL. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Sperry Delong A.K.A Big Tight, both her paternal grandparents, D Arthur Carter & Lillie Mae Carter, both her birth parents Jonathan Carter and Rosa Lee Dorsey, one brother Jonathan Carter Jr. & one sister Catherine Fay (Chris) Carter.

Indea leaves a huge family to grieve her loss. She is survived by her only child Zaniya Carter-Dorsey, her maternal grandmother Della Mae Dorsey-Delong, her adopted mother/ aunt Lorene Dorsey, step-mother Carrie P. Carter, one brother Willie Earl Carter, six sister's, Pearl (Clyde) Gray, Cassie Vogel, Deja Terry, Joyce Overstreet, Samantha Carter, Aeja Terry, & a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom she truly loved with all her heart.

The family of Indea Rosa Carter-Dorsey acknowledges with deep appreciation each prayer uttered on our behalf, every kind word or deed extended towards us, and the love each of you has showered on our family during our time of bereavement. A Celebration of Life will commence at 12:00 Noon Wednesday July 1, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Officiating Pastor Ricky Parks Eulogist. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow after services at Lincoln Cemetery. A viewing will be held on Tuesday June 30, 2020 from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home.
