Gloria "Toot" Kennedy

Gloria “Toot” Kennedy, 65, departed this life on December 2, 2022 at 8:09 a.m. at OSF Healthcare in Peoria, IL.

Gloria was born on June 6, 1957 in Chicago, IL to Lucille Triplett Eaton and Joseph Eaton, Sr.  Gloria graduated from Crane High School in Chicago, IL.  She worked at Glen Crest Nursing Home for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

Gloria met the love of her life, Oren Kennedy in Chicago, IL on April 1, 1989.  Gloria and Oren Kennedy were united in Holy Matrimony on June 4, 2004 by Pastor Bobby Keys.  Gloria was a member of New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ World Outreach Ministries.

 Gloria was a wonderful person.  She loved being around her family, children, grandchildren and her friends.  She loved to laugh, have fun and enjoy herself.  She was very intelligent, resourceful and she never forgot anything!  She loved to talk to people; she was very outspoken and passionate.  She always had a big heart and was the life of the party!  She never ended a phone call without telling you she loved you!  Gloria was loved by many and left several memories with everyone that she loved.

 She leaves to cherish her memory her children, James Eaton of Chicago, IL, Aaron Eaton and Octavia Eaton both of Danville, IL, Oren Lewis of Bay St. Louis, MS; sister, Rose (Isiah) Eaton-Shaw; brother, Ray (Alice) Eaton; 13 grandchildren, Ja’Nea Keithley, James Eaton, Jr., Sheldon Pittman, Jr., Aireus Eaton, Shakearra Pittman, Aaron Eaton, Jr., Zahir Eaton, Zoey Eaton, Alani Eaton, Monta, Travon, Desmond and Christ; six great-grandchildren, Ca’Niyah White, Jamari Williams, Sayvon Pittman, Syaire Pittman, Calvin White V, Sheldon Pittman III;  her husband Oren Kennedy’s Family; special friends, Shannon Family, Kennedy Family, Johnson Family, Cook Family and “Jew Town” Family; and, a host of devoted nieces, nephews and cousins.

 Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Kennedy; mother, Lucille Eaton; father, Joseph Eaton, Sr.; four brothers, Joseph Eaton, Jr., E.L. Eaton, Frederick Eaton and Randolph Eaton; five sisters, Mary Eaton, Martha Eaton, Josie Eaton, Betty Eaton and Lena Eaton.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday December 10, 2022 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave, Danville. Eulogist: Pastor Bobby R. Keys Sr. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow after at Sanhill Memorial Park.
