George Edward Orington transitioned from this earthly life to Glory on April 28, 2025.
Born on May 18, 1942 to Edward Lincoln and Marguerite Bass Orington, George lived a life full of adventure and passion.
He had a deep love for the outdoors, enjoying activities such as hunting, fishing, archery, and horseback riding. He was a true enthusiast of vintage automobiles and also had a special appreciation for the smooth sounds of jazz, often listening to his favorite artist, Boney James.
As a young man, George worked for Holland Inn. Later, he spent many years at Bill Smith Auto Parts. After reaching retirement age, George retired from NACCO/Hyster Yale, Danville, Illinois.
George leaves to cherish his memory his beloved son, Eric Orington (Danville, IL); grandson, Mariel Orington (Chicago, IL); grandchildren, Zariel Orington and Alijah Orington; three sisters, Virginia Sibley (Rantoul, IL), Carolyn (David) Johnson (Rantoul, IL), and Valerie Orington (Danville, IL); three brothers, Greg (Juanita) Orington (Danville, IL), Donald (Gisele) Orington (Buckeye, AZ), and Ivory (Beverly) Isom (Rantoul, IL); and, a host of nieces and nephews.
George is preceded in death by both his parents and two sisters, Tina Denise Williams and Madelyn Dowell Means; and, brother, Dennis Orington.
George was the patriarch of the family, leaving a profound and lasting impact on all of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 noon Friday May 9, 2025 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Eulogist: Jackie Lucas.
