Gary Mario Britt

Gary Mario Britt passed away on November 14, 2024, at the age of 65. He was surrounded by family, including his sister Victoria.

Born on December 8, 1958, in Champaign, IL, to Jesse D. Britt and Johnnie C. Kent, Gary was raised in a home grounded in faith and family. He was a proud graduate of Centennial High School and enlisted in the U.S. Army. Gary worked alongside his father maintaining prominent local businesses before finding joy in life's simple pleasures—skating, dancing, and spending time with loved ones. His infectious humor and knack for practical jokes will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Errol Britt. He is survived by siblings Geneva Robinson, John Marshall Britt, Howard Britt (Patricia), and Victoria Britt-Douglass (Hewitt), along with numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests enjoying time with loved ones or dancing with joy—gestures that would have made Gary smile.

A Celebration on life will commence at 12:00 Noon Monday November 25, 2024 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Urbana. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Eulogist: Pastor Melinda White.
