Ervin Kenneth Lucas

Ervin Kenneth Lucas, 87 of Danville, IL. transitioned from this life at 11:25 PM on Friday, September 1, 2022. Ervin was born February 19, 1935 in Danville, IL. to Clarence and Alice Lucas.

He attended and graduated Danville High School and later served four years in the US Marine Corps. He retired from General Motors after 25 years and later worked for the Danville Country Club. 

Ervin was formally married to Lee Ester (Brandon) Lucas. She preceded him in death in 1998. During their 38 years, they raised seven children. Dwight Lucas, Angela Henderson (both preceded him in death), Kenneth (Diane) Lucas of Champaign, IL, Tasha (Albert) Fleming of Champaign IL, Latonya (Lawrence) Martin Webb of Danville, IL, Iris Lucas of Champaign, IL, and (niece) Brenda (Michael) Gray of Danville, IL. 

In the year 2000, Ervin remarried to Virginia (Maze) Lucas, who he lovingly called his "Lil Tenderoni". From this marriage, he welcomed a bonus son and daughter into the family, Derek Maze of Indianapolis, IN, and Kisha Maze of Danville, IL.

He loved all his family and was a huge cheerleader for all of them. He touched many lives and was loved by so many. He was a faithful member at Higher Dimensions Faith Center (Pastor Ken McCray), he played the bongos and served as a Deacon until his declining health prevented him from attending services. He was a lifeguard and enjoyed swimming in his early years, and was also an outstanding dancer. He loved and played football, and enjoyed coaching for the Raiders little league football team. Many of his former players still remember him with admiration and respect. 

Ervin leaves to cherish his memory, his children, one brother, George (Inez) Lucas, 27 grandchildren, 52 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, along with a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. His parents, foster mom (Margarite Buckley), three sisters, and three brothers also proceeded him in death.

A Homegoing celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday September 9, 2022 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Eulogist: Pastor Ken McCray. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Danville National Cemetery.

A public viewing will be from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Thursday September 8, 2022 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St.
