August 19, 1942 ~ June 30, 2021 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Erma Dandridge-Williams Obituary

On June 30, 2021 the sunset of Erma Ruth Dandridge-Williams and she peacefully earned her wings and took flight.  The sun rose on August 19, 1942 in Como MS.  She was born to the late Ernestine Stewart and Joseph (Juanita) Dandridge.  Erma attended Memphis and Danville public schools.   She accepted Christ into her life at an early age.  Erma worked at Chuckles where she later retired. She also worked for CARE and ADDUS Homecare, also retiring from both jobs.   Erma married Earl H. Williams Sr. in which they raised seven children together.

To cherish her legacy she leaves three daughters; Dana Dandridge and Ermonde Williams of Danville, Il.  Cassandra (OC) of Peoria, Il., and three sons; Dewone (Kathy) Dandridge of Mesquite, TX., Erving (Trisha) Williams of Westville, IL. and Earl (Faith) Williams of Dallas, TX.  She was loved by 29 Grandchildren, 40 Great grandchildren and three Great Great Grandchildren. Erma raised four grandchildren; Ricky, La’Darah, Darrian (Shanara) and Myke’Tez and a cousin Corey Sanford.   She had four brothers; Fred (Natalie) Dandridge of Houston, Tx., William (Phydra) Callicutt and Bobby Callicutt of Las Vegas, NV., and Michael (Delois) Callicutt of Memphis, TN., Two sister-in-law’s; Ruby Dandridge and Beulah Dandgridge, and a step sister; Virinda Doddy of Newport, KY.   She has several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She enjoyed being around Sondra Derrickerson, Margaret Hoskins, Ruby Coleman and Edna Coleman and a special cousin Gracie Pattton.

Erma enjoyed reading the Bible, Singing Gospel music, Gardening, Cooking and Spending time with her family.  Erma’s first church home was East End Church of God in Christ, under the leadership of Bishop I.L. Taylor.  She later transferred her membership to New Birth Church of God In Christ under the leadership of Elder Clyde P. Jones, where she also became a Mother of the Church and was an active member of the Church.   She served diligently and faithfully on the Mother’s board until she became ill. 

 Erma was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, her daughter Donna Dandridge, two sisters Emma Lou Dandridge and Lavon Callicutt-Jones, and four brothers Grant Dandridge, John Dandridge,Houston Dandridge, and Roman Stewart.

The Family would like to send a special Thank You to the ICU Nursing staff of OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville.

 A Homegoing Celebration will commence at noon Thursday, July 8, at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Officiating: Elder Clyde P. Jones. Interment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.
