Eric Sean Smith

Eric Sean Smith Sr., 49 Danville, IL. passed this life on June 4th, 2020. He was born to the late William Smith and Marian Spady in Philadelphia, PA on September 17th, 1970. From the age of 3, he was raised by his Great Aunt Delores and Great Uncle George Harper.

Eric is survived by sons Eric Sean Smith II and Eriean Smith of Danville; daughter Essence Smith of Indianapolis, IN. A stepdaughter, Donica (Ervin) Wheeler of Danville. Sisters Cheryl (Robert) Harper-Patterson of Atlanta, Ga, and Rasheeda Smith of Wilmington, DE. Brothers Joseph Spady III and William Smith both of Wilmington, DE. Grandchildren Sariah, Mina, and Ervin Wheeler all of Danville. Special cousins Pastor  Sidney Thomas (Maurece), Artilla Thomas, and Patreice (David) Harper all of Danville. A Great Uncle, Robert L. Smith of Terre Haute, IN. Special Friends/Brothers Courtney Withers and Darrin Smith of Danville, Marty Withers of Atlanta, GA, and John Johnson of Columbus, OH. And childhood friends Leonard “ Swalley” Bryant of Champaign, IL and Keith Anglin of Kankakee, IL. He also leaves behind a host of cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends to cherish his memory. 

Eric enjoyed reading, cooking, fishing, watching old Western Movies, and watching sports. He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan, Chicago Bears fan, and a fan of the Los Angeles Lakers. He loved to read the dictionary and study different languages and subjects, especially business. He attended New Jerusalem Church under Pastor Bobby Keys. He was known affectionately as “Old E”.

He is preceded in death by the mother of his children, Ericka Hoskins, his parents, grandparents, brothers George “Russell” Harper and Donovan Spady, and a niece Nicole Sade Harper.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a later time in July.
