Eric Daniel Kelly was born December 16, 1957, the son of Henry and Lee Ella (Brandon) Kelly in Danville, IL. He was previously married to Ericka Scott of Danville, IL. He was the father of Kowijaula Lewis, Earhan Lewis, Eric Kelly Jr, Brandon Kelly, and Omar Kelly of Danville, IL.
Eric accepted the Lord at an early age at the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, and although he did not attend church on a regular basis, he never lost his faith. Eric was an avid reader and had a contagious sense of humor.
Eric attended Danville Public Schools and graduated from Danville High School. Eric was a veteran and served his country in the United States Army as a tanker. Eric worked various jobs and was a certified heavy equipment operator. Eric was the family mechanic and handyman completing various projects for family and friends.
Eric loved his family, and his family loved him. He will be deeply missed.
Eric leaves a legacy of loving memories to be cherished by his children, two sisters, Jane (Rev George) Campbell-DeBose of Kansas City, KS, Karen Harrell of Danville, two brothers Keith Kelly, and Mark (Kim) Kelly of Danville, one aunt, Naomi Hill of Danville, his grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Eric was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Beverly Gouard, Janice Carter, Marva Kelly and Joyce French, brothers, Henry, Robert, Charles, Roy, and Jimmy Kelly.
A Homegoing Service will commence at 12:00 Noon Tuesday December 19, 2023 at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church 311 North Collett Street, Danville. Visitation will be from 11:00AM until the time of the service. Rev. Lucius Barber, Eulogist. Interment will be at Danville National Cemetery. Leek and Son Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St in charge of the arrangements.
