Eric Cole Obituary


Eric J. Cole of Rantoul Illinois transitioned on July 20, 2020 at the age of 51.

Eric was born in Chicago Illinois on December 28, 1968 to Maxine Brooks and Walter Cole.

He attended Whitney Young high school in Chicago Illinois. He later received his GED.

Eric enjoyed watching football preferably the Chicago Bears. He had a rivalry every Sunday with his nephew Wook about those Packers and Bears.

He loved spending time with the family and was always cracking a joke or two. He just knew he could sing and dancing wasn’t nothing far from two stepping.

Eric barbecued like no other he was the best in town, let him tell it. But it definitely was the best of the best.

Eric was a member of Greater New Light Baptist Church in Rantoul Illinois. He was active in participating, supporting, and helping in anyway possible to be there for his church family.

Eric was giving the opportunity to pass on his love of football to his boys by coaching the Rantoul Falcons for several years.

Eric loved everybody young or old. He showed care and concern, and was always willing to help.

Eric worked at Charles Industry in Rantoul for five years. During that time becoming supervisor for the past two years. He was a dedicated and devoted worker for Charles.

Eric leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife Aisha Cole, six children Ericka Williams, Charles Dunner(C.J.) , ChaKhalia Dunner, Eric Cole Jr., Enisha Cole, and Eshanti Cole. Four sisters Linda Lewis, Doris Tyus(Jim), Florence Lewis(Orlando), and Tameka Cole. Three brothers; Curtis Lewis, Walter Cole, and Melvin Cole(Sandra). Two favorite nieces Jernelle Tyus and Tempestt Gill. Bestfriends Marshall Williams and Waymen Walker. A host of nieces and nephews, family and friends.

Eric was preceded in death by his mother Maxine Brooks, father Walter Cole, his children Elisa and Elijah Cole, a sister Cynthia Cole, a  brother Perry Lewis, and six nephews.

A Celebration Of Life will commence at 12:00 Noon Thursday July 30, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 1215 W. Bradley Ave. Officiating Rev, Otis Evans Sr. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.

Per CDC Guidelines, attendance policy's will be enforced.
