Elva Jene Washington of Champaign, IL peacefully transitioned on Saturday, February 4, 2023 at home surrounded by her loving daughter, Angela and her brother Earl.
Elva was born October 19, 1941 in Champaign, IL to the parents of Eugene S. and Eva L. Washington. She graduated from Champaign High School in 1959. Elva was baptized at Salem Baptist Church at an early age. She worked at Mercy Hospital and Jos. Kuhn and Co. before retiring from Bank of Illinois/Busey Bank.
Elva was an avid bowler, participating in several leagues, which included the Ebonite and IL-MO Travel league. She bowled across the country in various tournaments.
Elva leaves behind with her loving memories, daughter Angela Davis (Elawrence), sisters, Marlene Largo, Eloise Gibson (Edward), and Elaine Harmon, brother Earl Washington (Joy), sister-in-law Polly Washington, brother-in-law Ned Hicks, two grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents, sister Emily Washington Hicks, brother Eugene Washington, several aunts, uncles, and a cousin.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Bethel AME Church, 401 E. Park St. Champaign IL. Visitation at 11am, Service starting at 12pm.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the family of Elva Washington to be distributed to various charities in her honor.
