Edgar Hill of Danville, IL passed away on Monday afternoon January 29, 2024. He was born August 12, 1939 in Leland, MS where he attended Jackson High School. He later joined the Navy from 1959 to 1962. Shortly after he met the love of his life, Ida Louise (Lyle) Hill and they started their life together May 1, 1966. Together they had two children, Paula Washington and Gordon Hill. He later retired from Ameren. where he began to enjoy his days relaxing and watching sports. When he wasn’t relaxing, he enjoyed traveling in his Lexus, playing chess and spending time with his family. He was a family man and loved his family dearly. He was always making sure his family was taken care of and didn’t need anything. He was very caring, and one thing for sure he was a man of his word. But, most importantly he was a God fearing praying man who loved the Lord. He was a faithful member and deacon of Saint Synagogue for many years. He was very quiet to many but he was also known for his voice which he used to sing for the Lord.
He is proceeded in death with is siblings: Rose Gordon, Daisy Piggy, Leroy Hill, Faye Hill. His parents: Pink & Minnie Hill and his wife, Ida Hill and second wife Gloria Hill. He leaves behind one sister, Pinkye Sargon. His children, Paula Washington (Kenyatta Washington) and Gordon Hill (Tavell Davidson Hill). His grandchildren, Devesha Moore, Gordon Hill Jr, La’Gesha Hill, Diamond Gouard, Tae’Geona Hill and Tae’Knowmmei Hill and his great grandchildren, Kennedy Hill, Janae Holland, Legacee Day and Dynastee Day.
He was a father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, that passed away too soon, he was loved and cherished by so many, he will be missed.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday February 10, 2024 at Saint Synagogue Church Of God In Christ 2605 E. Main St., Danville. Eulogist: Elder Tommie Reed. A visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Sanhill Memorial Park.
A public viewing will be held from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm February 9, 2024 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St.
