Dorothy Perkins Obituary

To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven… Dorothy Jean (Thadison) Perkins entered into eternal rest on September 17, 2020 at 4:15pm.  She was 68 years old.  Affectionately  known as “Dot”, was born on April 30 1952 in Forrest City, Arkansas to Monroe Townsend and Penola Townsend.

The family then lived in several cities in Illinois before settling again in Champaign.  While Dot was in Chicago Heights, she met a young man named Ronald Drake and from this union Rhonda Michelle Perkins (Napper) was born.

Dot loved to cook.  You are talking about the best greens, dressing and everything she made!  The cooking was off the chain!!!  She loved being outdoors.  She loved fishing and gardening.  She loved to watch old westerns and loved to sing. AND SHE LOVED TO DANCE!!!!

Dot was a simple lady but the epitome of kindness and class.  She would open up her house for anyone that needed a place to lay their head and of course, would cook for them.  Dot’s house stayed busy.   She said what she meant and meant what she said!  She didn’t play!    She was strong willed.  Dot had the ability to get things done.  That’s what we loved about Dorothy Jean (Thadison) Perkins!

Dot was preceded in death by her parents: 3 brothers, 1 sister and the love of her life, Albert Thadison

Dot leaves to cherish precious memories, a daughter, Rhonda Napper (Terry); three grandchildren, Terrell Napper, Terrance Napper, Terron Napper; three great grandchild; four sisters:  Mattie (Candy) Wells of Chicago, Sally Townsend, Brenda Townsend and Sheila Jackson all of Champaign; two brothers Robert Jackson and Cletus Bradley both of Champaign; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
