Dorise J. Cross

Dorise J. Cross (Johnson), 73, of Danville, IL passed away on January 18, 2021, in Danville.

Born March 1, 1947, to the union of Lillie Johnson (Jordan) and Clarence Johnson in Union City, TN. She graduated from Central High School and South Bend College of Commerce in South Bend, IN. Then she married the love of her life the late Elder Billy T. Cross on June 7, 1969. She worked in communications for Hyster Yale Group for many years before retiring. She served as a missionary at her local church and in her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, traveling, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Dorise is preceded in death by her husband, Elder Billy T. Cross, granddaughter, Teaghan Nichole Reeves, father, Pastor Clarence Johnson, one brother Clarence E. Johnson, one sister Barbara Jones, 3 Sisters-In-Law, Frances Batey, Ida May Smith, and Melba Johnson, one Brother-In-Law Frelon Cross Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory, 3 children Shavawn L. Cross (IN), Tania L. Cross (IL) and Billy T. (Leslie) Cross II (IL), 3 grandchildren Billy T. Cross III ‘Tripp’, Beck Azores Cross, and Brae Addison Cross, her mother, Lillie M. Johnson (IN), three sisters, Laverne (Kenneth) Barlow (IN), Joan (Mark) Boyd (IN), and Monice (James) Foster (IN). two brothers David Johnson (TN), and Tony (Sherry) Johnson (IN). five Godchildren Minister Carl Shaw, Cheryl Jones, Alvin Hannon Jr., Emerson Davis and Valeria Hardy. and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Visitation will be 1-5 pm Tuesday, January 26, 2021, at Leek & Sons Funeral Home (304 E. Williams St. Danville, IL 61832).

Due to CDC regulations, attendance restrictions will be enforced.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 27, 2021, at Saints Synagogue Church Of God In Christ (2605 E. Main St. Danville, IL) the service will start at noon. Burial will follow at Danville National Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted by Leek & Sons Funeral Home.
