Deonte Johnson Obituary

My dearest son, Deonte Lamar Johnson 41 of Danville, formerly of Chicago, entered our Heavenly Father's Arms on September 24, 2020 at OSF Hospital in Champaign Illinois. Deonte was born August 27, 1979 in Chicago, Illinois to Patricia Johnson and Martin Adams.  Deonte moved to Danville, Illinois in  2009. Deonte was loved by many.  Those he encountered adored his smile.
Deonte was a member of Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of the Late Rev. Dr. Clay Evans. Deonte was baptized at Fellowship and enjoyed working in the church.  At Fellowship MBC, Deonte was a member of the Young Adult Choir and Youth Choir. He also worked with Bernice Walker in the Children Out Reach Program. Deonte enjoyed visiting New Jerusalem Church of Jesus Christ, under the leadership of Pastor Bobby Keys. He loved listening to New Jerusalem's Music Ministry.
Deonte loved to cook. He thought he was Chef.  He was convinced his cooking was better than his mother's.  Deonte believed his culinary expertise surpassed all those he encountered.
Deonte additionally enjoyed singing, dancing, and watching scary movies.
Deonte was preceded in death by his stepfather Alvin Edwards, whom he loved very much; grandmother Dovie Clark, who kept him in line, and auntie Dovie Jean Clark, who gave him everything; he loved hanging out with her.
Deonte leaves to cherish precious memories his mother Patricia Johnson, his brother Antonio Johnson of Chicago, IL, two sisters: Tiffani (Charles) Conaway of Danville, IL and Dominique (Kenita Ajayi) Edwards of Bloomington, IL.  Three nephews:  Juvonta Johnson, Sirvonja Conaway and Tobias Ajayi;  four nieces: Tyiann Conaway, NauTika Conaway,  Ashanti Conaway and Zenobia Ajayi;  two aunts:  Gazella Roberson Rayfield Roberson of Chicago, Illinois and Diana Lewis of Bloomington, IL, sisters-in-law Lashawna Richardson and a host of cousins and friends.
