Demetrius M. Shaw 39, affectionately known as “Tonie” passed away peacefully at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville on November 13, 2024. He was born June 26, 1985, in Danville, IL to Phillip and Rosiland Shaw. He was a 2003 graduate of Danville High School in Danville, IL. He was formerly employed at McLane Midwest for many years.
He married the love of his life on February 16, 2019. They were together for 20 beautiful years.
He enjoyed coaching for the Lion Hearts Youth Wrestling and Danville Seahawks Youth Football League and did so for many years. He was a former member of Dem Boyz Motorcycle Club. Some of his hobbies include playing dominoes (and claiming that he could not be beat), listening to music, (he was the biggest Master P, No Limit, and Prince fan.), and spending time with his family, (particularly family games nights and sleepovers.) He also enjoyed arguing and anyone who knows him knows exactly what I mean!
He leaves many happy memories to be cherished and always remembered to the love of his life, his wife, Rhonaisha Shaw, his three sons, William Coleman, Marquan Shaw, and Dracyn Shaw, his parents, Phillip and Rosiland Shaw, his siblings, Rickesha Parish, Rickey Forthenberry, and Kiara Shaw, 11 nieces, 11 nephews, a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, including his two best friends, Troy Coe and David Anding.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Bobbie Bennie, his maternal grandparents Steven and Carol Forthenberry, his paternal grandparents, William and Earlie Shaw, his aunt Tia Forthenberry, uncles Stefphon and Adam Forthenbery, and Anthony and Steven Shaw.
A celebration of life will commence at 12 noon on Friday, November 22, 2024 at New Life Church of Faith, 1419 N. Bowman Ave, Danville, IL. Eulogist: Pastor Frank McCullough. Visitation will begin at 11a.m until the time of service. A burial will follow immediately after at Spring Hill Cemetary.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday November 21, 2024 from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. William St.
