Deanna Marie Sibley

Deanna Marie Sibley transitioned from her earthly journey to her heavenly home on Saturday, October 31, 2020 in Indianapolis, Indiana. 

Deanna was born in Champaign, Illinois to Johnnie B. Wilkerson (Donna) and Theresa A. Sibley-Williams on March 12, 1976. 

Deanna was known to friends and family as a loving, giving, creative person who was not afraid to share advice with the younger generation and who went above and beyond for her children and especially her grandchildren. Her granddaughter Za’Kiya was never far behind, when you saw Deanna. She was known across the states for her gift baskets, her picture albums and photo collages, her bold and colorful fashion sense, her willingness to help others, and her love for playing B-I-N-G-O. 

Deanna graduated from Aberdeen High School in Aberdeen, Maryland. Deanna worked in retail, as a daycare provider, and as a CNA.

Deanna leaves to cherish her sons Aaron Nicholas Sibley and Patrick Jerrod Harris, Jr. of Champaign; daughters Janiya Ashlei-Marie Wilkerson and Marcaysha Hattie-Monae Pierson of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, Naveah Sibley of Springfield, Illinois, Darreon Ross, Aaron N. Sibley, Jr., Tori N. Sibley, Ari N. Sibley of Champaign, Illinois, and Za’Kiya Marie Wilkerson and God’s little blessing on the way, Za’Mere of Indianapolis, Indiana; six sisters, ReMona Freeman of Tampa, Florida, Shandra Wilkerson  and Shevon Williams of Atlanta, Georgia, Christina Sibley and Nina Sibley-Richardson(Cedric) of Champaign, Illinois, and Marcy Wilson of Urbana, Illinois; six brothers, Ebony Shackelford (Beverly), Shawndrell Wilkerson(Stephanie), Denecio Gillian, Adolphus Sibley and Robert Williams of Champaign, Illinois, and Day’ion Wilkerson of Urbana, Illinois; grandmother, Nina P. Sibley of Champaign, Illinois; aunt and uncle Samuel and Sharon of Champaign, Illinois; special aunt Vivian(RED) Caraway of Champaign, Illinois; special first cousin, Rochella Crawford of Champaign, Illinois; special friends, Tina Anderson, Alexis Trice and Asia Duckworth of Indianapolis, Indiana; a host of nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Deanna was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Samuel S. Sibley, Sr; and paternal grandparents, Johnnie B. and Alma Wilkerson; and paternal aunt Alma “Marie” Hunter.

A Celebration of Life will commence at 12:30PM, Sunday November 8, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 West Bradley Ave., Urbana, IL. Officiating Rev. Perrico Robinson Sr., St. Luke CME Church.  A public viewing will commence from 3-5PM Saturday, November 7, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home- Urbana.
