An admirable husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin and friend, David Lee (Bud) Gouard, 66, of Danville, Illinois, departed this walk of life on March 25,2025 at his home surrounded by his loving and supportive family.
David was born on May 26, 1958, in Webb Mississippi to Davie Lee and Betty Ann Gouard. In 2006, he married the love of his life Tywon Gouard, who stood by her vows and the covenant she made with God until God called him home.
David loved God first, his family, and his friends. He was a member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, Danville IL. Over the years he had become very involved with the church’s food pantry, and willing to help wherever else he was needed.
David lived a life filled with love, laughter, and kindness. He was known for his out-going demeanor, and unwavering generosity. It was easy for others to gravitate towards him.
David was dedicated with his faith and love for God. David was the owner of “BUDS BBQ” for well over 30 years and anexcellent experienced cook he was. He gained his cooking legacy from his predecessors. His passion was BBQ and southern style cooking. With the support of his appreciated staff, David loved serving his community, and others near and far. David was a supportive basketball fan, traveling to support his brother, children, nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He enjoyed attending basketball and football games and watching them on TV. He found solace and joy in the simple moments spent with his loving wife, family and friends. David was loved by his entire family and all who knew him.
David leaves a legacy of loving memories to be cherished by his loving and devoted wife Tywon Gouard; five sons, David III (Amber) Gouard of Danville, IL, Brashon Gouard of Indianapolis, IN, Joseph Moore of Bloomington, IL, Julius Moore of Dallas TX, and William Taylor Jr; two daughters A’Shayla Taylor, and Myah Taylor Gouard; three brothers George (Pam) Gouard, Terry Gouard, all of Danville IL, Stanley (Chasity) Gouard of Evansville, IN; four sisters Daisy Ford, Shirley Duncan, Loretta (Bobby) Clark all of Danville IL, and Doretha (Donald) Ingram of Chicago, IL; 17 blended grandchildren, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. A special uncle Leroy Robinson, and faithful and loyal friends Robert (Bobby) Davis and Erik Felix. David touched the lives of many and will be remembered fondly for his kindness, compassion, and vibrant spirit. He may have left this world but his love and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He has left an eternal love and memories to each of his family members that is to be passed on from generation to generation.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Davie Lee and Betty Ann Gouard, his grandparents Marshall Robinson and Dora Miller Duff, Sherman Gouard, Ruby Lee Smith, his grandson Jaylen Lee Gouard, and a very special Aunt Coretha Williams.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday April 4, 2025 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Eulogist: Pastor Lucious Barber.Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment: Springhill Cemetery.
A public viewing will be for 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 3, 2025 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St.
