Daphne Lynn Reed Dixon, 60, of Danville, IL went to glory with her Heavenly Father peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026 at her home surrounded by her loving family, and her lovable dog “Sparky” who also stayed at her side, at 5:07 PM. Daphne was born June 1, 1965 at St. Elizabeth Hospital to the late Superintendent Lee A. Reed Sr. and Beverly Reed.
On September 5, 2015, Daphne united in marriage to the love of her life, Mark Dixon, who preceded her in death in 2017. He was a Special Stepdad in sharing and caring for her children.
Daphne attended Garfield Elementary School, North Ridge Middle School, and Danville High School with a successful completion of attendance and Bachelor of Arts Degree from Ashford University in 2016. She was employed at the Veterans Administration for 30 years as a CNA in the Podiatry before retiring.
Daphne was a very caring and loving person who would help any and everyone. She was also loved by many co-workers at the VA and with whomever she came in contact with.
She grew up and attended Mason Temple COGIC for most of her life under her father, Superintendent Lee A. Reed Sr. She later devoted her life to the Lord and joined the family at St. Synagogue COGIC under the leadership of Pastor Tommie Lee Reed. She later joined the Usher Board and loved being a keeper at the door greeting and sharing her smile with everyone no matter the pain she felt.
Her hobbies were spending time with her family and her dog, cooking, traveling and going on cruises. She was an avid sports fan. Her favorite teams were the Fighting Illini and the Dallas Cowboys. She also helped facilitate the North End Reunion.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving mother Beverly J. Reed of Peoria IL, four sons; Montress Reed (Cindy), Eric Hardimon and Nathaniel Hardimon of Danville, IL, and Davion Ricksy of Lafayette, Indiana; one daughter, Charlet Alexander of Danville, IL, and her 25 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and Special sons; Anthony Collier, Stephon Osby and Jaleel Jones; Special sisters Shonna Rose and Debbie Townes and a Special Daughter, Cindy Ortiz.
She also leaves to cherish her memories, her siblings; Lee A Reed Jr., (Gwen), Debra Swafford (Sherrod) of Danville, IL, Darlene Dawson (Nathaniel) of Rantoul, IL, Diane Sexton-Ford (Jim) of Champaign, IL, Donna L Beck (Pastor Felton) of Peoria, IL, Danielle Cherubin (Pastor Louis) of Ocala, FL, and Dana Reed of Ocala, Fl. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father Superintendent Lee A Reed Sr., and Maternal grandparents, Gladys Glenn and George Lillard; paternal grandparents, Elder Rueben Reed and Florida Reed; and a special nephew, Paul Reed, and a special niece Tapria M., and a loving uncle, Pastor Rosevelt Reed.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday April 4, 2026 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Eulogist: Elder Tommie Reed. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Interment: Danville National Cemetery Monday April 6, 2026 at 10:00 am.
