Cristean Thompson was born on December 4, 1948, to the late Willie and Emma Joiner in Leland, MS. She gained her wings on September 19, 2024, at Norton Hospital in Louisville, KY.
She accepted the Lord at an early age. She became a member of Macedonia Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor D.L Jenkins and First Lady Carolyn Jenkins.
Cristean enjoyed singing, cooking, spending time with family and friends, and taking care of her children, as well as, other people. That was her calling from the Lord. She achieved her GED from Parkland College and retired from Kraft Foods after 30 years.
As we sit back and look over her life, Cristean touched so many people in a positive way. She showered everyone with love and warmth. People loved to be around her. You always heard different ones say, “Let’s go to Cris’ house.”
Cristean leaves behind memories that will be cherished by her 6 children, Makisa Thompson, Mingo Thompson and ShilantheThompson of Kentucky, Shiley Johnson of Texas, Chiquita Thompson of Tennessee, and Marilyn Green of Missouri; brother, James Earl Joiner of Wisconsin; sister, Wardine Joiner of Illinois; 10 grandchildren, Kastina, Kanisha, Tupanga Joe’lle, Jasmine, Hosie Jr., Jovan, Jewleus, Josiah and Joseph; and, 5 great-grandchildren, Aniyhla, Kayantae, Corzyiha, Kavontae and Ky’mauriya.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Thompson; daughter, Kyneitha Thompson; mother, Emma Joiner; father, Willie Joiner; grandson, Marquis Edwards; 4 sisters, Henrine Ratliff, Marie Atkins, Lucille Martin, and Juanita Jackson; and, 4 brothers, Rev. Julius Joiner Sr., Roosevelt Henderson, Henry Joiner and Willie Joiner.
She has gained her wings and has passed the torch to all of us to stay in love. She will never be forgotten, only missed and loved.
