Cordell Reed Obituary

The sun rose on August 4, 1952 at 7:18 p.m. where Andrew and Attie Dudley Reed received him. He came into this world and met his two sisters Magnolia Cook and Lillie B. Jones, two brothers Joe Louis and Otha Lee Reed.

Cordell Graduated in 1970. On October 29, 1983 he married Lisa Jones to that union three sons were born Cordell Reed Jr of Columbus OH, Datarius Reed, and Demarcus Reed both of Cincinnati OH. On July 18, 2017 the love of his life Dayonna Shamika “Buttercup” was born.

Cordell Loved to sing, cook, play cards, play dominos, and travel to Ohio to see his Buttercup. He loved the St. Louis Cardinals, Pittsburg Steelers, and USC Trojans.

The sun set on Cordell January 23, 2020. He will be missed by his sons, siblings, “His Buttercup”, nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Joe, and his sister Lillie.


A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday February 1, 2020 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Danville. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Officiating Rev. Frank J McCullough. Interment will be at 11:00 am Monday February 3, 2020 at Springhill cemetery.
