Columbus McDaniel Jr. was born May 17, 1962 in Osceola, Arkansas to Eartha McDaniel and Columbus McDaniel Sr.
Columbus enjoyed spending time with family/friends, cooking his favorite meals, helping others and watching sports (he NEVER missed a game). Columbus better known as “Junior”, “JuJu”, “Bo” and “Columbo” received his education at Urbana School District #116 and he was a star player of the Urbana High School football team. He continued his education at Parkland College. Columbus spent many years as a bouncer in various night clubs, Ryan’s Steakhouse, Provena Covenant and Cheddar’s.
Columbus leaves to cherish his memory three daughters, Shaunteje (Kejuan) McDaniel of Mattoon, Illinois., Mahala Bee of Paris, Illinois and Amber McDaniel of Champaign, Illinois; one son Aaron (Amelia) McDaniel of Champaign, Illinois; two sisters Lorrie (Michael) Crosby of Rantoul, Illinois and Corrane Elam of Mableton, Georgia; and one brother Daryon McDaniel of Champaign, Illinois; 8 grandchildren. He also leaves to cherish a host of many nieces, nephews and other family/friends who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister “Pumpkin” and his favorite niece Sherlandel “Nano-Nano” Nesbitt.
Visitation will be at 11Am and a celebration of life will be held at Leek and Sons Funeral Home, 1215 West Bradley Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61801 Saturday, May 29, 2021 at noon. At his children’s request, he will be cremated. Leek and Sons Funeral Home, 1215 West Bradley Avenue, Urbana, Illinois 61801 is in charge of arrangements.
