Clowzell Adams, Sr. was born June 6, 1945, in Hazelhurst, MS he transitioned to the Heavenly realm December 29, 2020. He was preceded in death by both his parents, John Ola and Isabell Adams; a son, Brian Adams; two siblings; Joe Willie and Lillie Adams; and a niece, Angel Lachelle Smith. He leaves to survive his memory, his wife of 50 years, Joan Marie Adams; his children, Dietrich Lamont Adams of Danville, IL; Clowzell, Jr. and Kinta Adams of Dallas, TX; Courtney Withers of Danville, IL; Darrin Smith of Danville, IL, and Susie Lucas of Danville, IL. From his children was birthed two more generations; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren which has enlarged the family legacy.
Clowzell Sr. was a gentle-hearted man who loved and cherished his family and honoured his friendships near and far. He had a passion for motorcycles and was a leading member of the Untouchables Motorcycle Club in Danville, IL for 49 years. Clowzell and his two brothers, Joe and Leroy, were the only sons of 9 children bore by John and Isabell Adams. They spent quite a bit of time together because of their kindred passions; they all wore beards and were affectionately known as “the three bears”. They all enjoyed the relaxing pleasure of fishing, riding motorcycles and spending time with family. After 47 years of service, Clowzell retired from Chuckles Candy Factory, and his morning coffee time at the motorcycle club became one of his passions.
Clowzell Sr. embraced his maturity as a man, leader and father and developed a relationship with God. His faithfulness and dedication in ministry led him to become a Deacon at Greater Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, where his mother also served for years in several positions before she transitioned to Heaven. “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.” (John 14:1-2)
Clowzell, Sr. leaves to celebrate his life and legacy, his wife of 50 years, Joan Marie Adams; his children, Dietrich Lamont Adams of Danville, IL; Clowzelle, Jr. and Kinta Adams of Dallas, TX; Darrin Smith of Danville, IL, and Susie Lucas of Danville, IL; his surviving siblings, Mary Dabney of Danville, IL; Lynn Smith of Urbana, IL; Anna Adams of Urbana, IL; Leroy and Brenda Adams of Danville, IL; Marlene Adams of Champaign, IL; and Mamie Adams of Urbana, IL; the family matriarch, his Aunt, Bernice Johnson of Danville, IL; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, in-laws and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon on Monday January 11, 2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville. Officiating Pastor U. Pete Williams. A Viewing will be from 11:00 until the time of the service. Interment will follow after at Spring Hill Cemetery.
A public viewing will be held on Sunday January 10, 2021 from 12:00 Noon until 4:00 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home.
