Christopher Marshall Obituary

Christopher Marshall was born on May 21, 1978 in Chicago, Illinois. Chris, as we affectionately called him, was born to Charlene Baylis and Edward Marshall.

Chris received his education in Chicago Public Schools, Jesse Owens Magnet School, Maranatha Christian Academy, St. Martin de Porres Academy and attended Parkland College.

Chris never married but was a dog dad to a wonderful pit bull, Layla Marshall. Chris worked a handful of jobs but mostly enjoyed his time at Comcast and Pickles where he gained so many loving friends.

Chris was known for his great way with words, his LOVE for Layla, playing sports, especially baseball and softball, and he was a diehard White Sox fan. Chris loved and deeply cared for all of the women in his life as well. He possessed an outgoing personality, a loving, kind and big heart, he was dependable, and enjoyed telling jokes. Of course, let us not forget how much he enjoyed wearing his cowboy boots and his footwork on the dance floor.

To know Chris was to love him. He wanted to always be there for anyone he loved even if he wouldn't let us always return the favor. You knew he always had your back.

Chris’s heart was so big for children, any child he came in contact with, he would give them the world if he could just to put a smile on their face. His smile would light up a room and that laugh of his was ever so contagious. He brought joy to so many of us. Chris loved HARD, he loved all of his friends and family and wanted to give them everything he could, not knowing sometimes his laughter was enough, it did not take much to make us happy.

Chris transitioned on Tuesday, March 2, 2021.  He leaves his beloved Layla; his mother Charlene Baylis; his father Edward Marshall; brothers: Anthony (Tony) Baylis of Livermore & San Diego, California, Brian (Trina) Marshall of Chicago, IL; sisters: Angela (Raymond) King of Champaign, IL, twin sister Christina (Sonny) Walker of Champaign, IL; six nieces: Shana Baylis-(Dre) Willams, Marlana Baylis-(Danny) Ruffin, Alexis Harris, Cydnee Baylis, Kayla and Kimora Walker; four nephews: Jordan Caroline, Wayne Cooper, Kewane Walker, and Jay Cameron Baylis; 12 great nieces and nephews; bonus siblings: Jayna Caroline Morgan, Darrold Harbin, Shirley (Elton) Togba, and Marquita Thompson; bonus mom: Jacy (Walter) Houston.  Christopher had several friends that were like brothers: Jay Martin of San Diego, CA, Mark Hill of Chicago, IL, Pervis Dodd of Tampa, Fl., Derek L. Pruitt of Champaign, IL, Jeremy Blunier- Welch of Champaign, IL, Jason Pike of Villa Grove, IL, Dan Hornbuckle and Paul Plotner both of Champaign, IL.  Chris also leaves a host of friends and family whom he loved and cherished dearly.
