Charlie Lee Moore

Charlie Lee Moore transitioned peacefully into eternal rest on December 19, 2021 surrounded by his family.
Charlie was born on November 15, 1948 in Canton, Mississippi to the union of Zollie and Frances (Chaney) Moore. Charlie attended Camel Grade School in Canton, Mississippi. Charlie relocated to Champaign, IL in 1966. He leaves to cherish fond memories; Son, Charles (Mechelle) Moore of Champaign, IL. Daughters; Latrice (Todd) Moore, and Shermika (Sean) Suggs of Champaign, IL. Sons; Corey Connolly and Charles Connolly of Evansville, Indiana. Siblings; Sisters, Katie Moore, Ruby (Eddie) Turner, Mary Moore all of Champaign, IL. Brothers; Excell Moore of Rantoul, IL, Edward Moore of Urbana, IL and Willie Moore of Champaign, IL. 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews.
Charlie enjoyed being outdoors so much that he built his own landscaping company once he relocated to Evansville, Indiana. Charlie made many friends as there wasn’t a stranger he didn’t talk too. Charlie’s best friend Alonzo Turner who he playfully called, “Cootah,” enjoyed traveling the highway back and forth visiting family, fishing and helping others anyway he could. Charlie enjoyed planting his garden and talking on the phone with his family catching up on the lastest, “Gossip.” Charlie cared deeply for everyone who he connected with he truly lived out Matthew 25:34-40 KJV.

Charlie was preceded in death by both parents and 6 brothers.

A Celebration will commence on Thursday Dec 30, 2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 1215 W. Bradley Ave., Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Lincoln Cemetery.
