Charles W. Sims, (C.W.) 97 of Danville, IL. passed this life at 11:16 am Sunday, October 11th at OSF Healthcare, Danville, IL.
Charles was born on March 23, 1923 to Sylvester and Linnabelle Phillips Sims of Ellenwood, Georgia.
Charles was formally married to Anne Mae Swift Sims and to this union was born two sons, Charles Sims Jr. and Sylvester Sims. Three daughters Vickie Sims, Judy Sims, and Sherry Sims Dye.
Formally married to the late Gertrude Dodson Sims.
Charles enjoyed fishing, hunting and attending Church. He spent majority of his time loving around family and friends. Charles gave his life to the lord and expressed his love of God, through his singing and reading the Bible daily.
Charles was a faithful member of Philadelphia Baptist Church until his death.
Charles leaves to cherish his memory, a daughter, Vickie Sims of Danville, IL. Two sons, Charles (Angela) Sims Jr, of Benton Harbor, Michigan and Sylvester Sims of Memphis, Tennessee. Very Special Grandchildren, Lisa Sims, Todd Sims, and Karla Young, all of Danville, Illinois. Charles leaves 15 Grandchildren, 36 Great Grandchildren, and 3 Great Great Grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 11:00 am Friday October 16, 2020 at Philadelphia Baptist Church 423 N. Washington Ave., Danville. Officiating Pastor Courtney Watson. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am until the time of the service. Interment will follow after at Danville National Cemetery. A public viewing will be held on October 15, 2020 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
