Charles McGruder Obituary

Charles G. McGruder Sr, 78 of Danville, passed this life Tuesday July 13, 2021.  Charles, the son of Theodore and Garnetta Severado, was born November 28, 1942 in Springfield, IL.

He attended Danville Public Schools.  Charles retired from General Motors after 30yrs of service.  He enjoyed his family, music and fishing. An avid sport fan: he loved the Chicago Bears and rooted for any team LeBron was playing against.  Charles never met a stranger and had several friends; his closest friends were nicknamed “Hey Ugly”.

Charles leaves to cherish his memory, siblings: Terry Severado of Danville, IL, Sherry Sullivan, children: Wesley (Angela) McGruder of Fishers, IN, Steve (Tiffany) Crosby, Nena McGruder, Charles (Linda) McGruder all of Danville; a host of nieces and nephews; also several grandchildren and bonus grandchildren; Sean Crosby, DaNaisha McGruder, Xavier McGruder, Jordan Moremon, Precious McGruder and Trenton McGruder, Marquis Crosby, Brianna Crosby and Kianna Crosby, bonus grandchildren; Eriel Davis, Elijah Davis, Emone Davis and Emerson Davis; and special friends Edgar and Terrie Davis.

Charles was preceded in death by his wife Edna McGruder,grandparents; Pocopia (Mary) Severado and Wesley (Virginia)Brents.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 noon on Tuesday July 20, 2021 at Saints Synagogue C.O.G.I.C., 2605 E. Main St., Danville. Eulogist: Pastor Tommie Reed. Burial will be in Spinghill Cemetery, Danville. Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Saints Synagogue C.O.G.I.C. A public viewing will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, 304 E. Williams St., Danville.
