Cedric Lamont Mitchell was born to Rhoda Love and Fred Lee Saulsbury on November 21, 1963 in Kankakee, IL. As a teenager, he moved to Champaign where he attended middle and high school and Don Moyers’ Boys Club. In March of 1995, he met Debra Wilson and they later married on April 20, 2018.
Cedric was employed the last four years as a prep chef for Perkins Restaurant and he donated his spare time assisting First Followers Reentry program. Cedric loved spending quality time with family and friends and he enjoyed watching and playing all sports. Because of his love for people, he never met a stranger. He always provided a warming smile and an uplifting message for anyone who needed it.
Cedric leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Debra Wilson Mitchell (Urbana); step-children Sharron Wilson (Riverdale, GA), Marlaina Hill (Palm Beach, FL), and Tavarius Nesbitt (Atlanta, GA); adored mother Rhoda Mitchell; cherished sisters Pamela Mitchell and Leslie Mitchell; brothers Andre Mitchell, Michael Mitchell, and Marlon Mitchell (all of Champaign); treasured aunt Jacquelyn Love King (Kankakee, IL); nine grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Cedric was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his father, and baby brother Darin Mitchell.
Services will commence at 12PM, May 25, 2022 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home, Urbana. Visitation will begin at 11AM until the start of the service. Officiating Rev. V. Andujo. Burial Mt. Hope Cemetery.
