Carol Forthenberry Obituary

Carol Evon Forthenberry passed this life at 1:57 PM on Monday, August 15, 2022, at OFS Sacred Heart Medical Center, Danville.

Carol was born December 19, 1947, in Danville, IL to Frances “Frank” Brigham and Ernest Lillard. She married her high school sweetheart, Steven “S.T.” Forthenberry on May 8, 1967.

Carol was a STRONG, loving, caring, sweet woman who adored all her family and friends. She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Tamera, Shanna, Rosiland (Phillip) Shaw and TaKesha (Curtis) Reed of Danville, IL; brothers Kenneth Brigham and Anthony Roach of Danville, IL, Robert Brigham of Oakland, CA, Ernest Lillard of Champaign, IL, Rodger Lillard of Detroit, MI, Sherman Lillard of Danville, IL, Shawn (Stacey) Chapman and Danville, IL; sisters Elaine (Curtis) Hawkins of Danville, IL, Jennifer (Sammie) Flakes of Bloomington, IL, Melody (William) Shaw of Danville, IL, Marcia Lillard of Jackson, MI and Pamela Hoskins of Oak Park, MI. Grandchildren Rickesha, Rickey, Demetrius, Aaron, Avion, Alaina, Kiara, Alysha, Ashely, Adam T., and Amara; great grandchildren Tamaya, Marquan, JaVaughn, Brooklyn, Jamir, Dracyn, Tristan, El’Layjah, El’Rijah, El’Liyana and Ace; special nephews Troyel and DVaughn and special nieces Danielle and “Tootsi” Shawntaia and many more nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Adopted special daughers and sons: Henrietta Hunter, Donald Murray, Robert Edward, Robert Ford, Ricky Dandridge, David “Dabo” Worthington, Lisa Brooks, Sondra Compton and Terina Wilson and best friend Gail Lucas.

Carol worked at Continental Filling, Ankor Hocking, and District 118. Carol was a great mother, always putting her family first. She attended baseball, basketball and football games, track meets, show choir events, band concerts an anything involving her children and grandchildren, always the biggest cheerleader.  She instilled in her family love and the value of taking care of one another, “Family First”, and together we “Stay Strong”.

Carol was a member of Collett Street Church of Christ. She enjoyed cooking and reading, she was a fan of any sport teams her grandchildren rooted for, and she was a fan of Megan Thee Stallion (thanks Ashely).

Carol was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, sons Adam and Stefphon and daughter Tia Forthenberry, brothers Keith, Bryant “Spud” and Rodney “Deannie Boy” Brigham; Eric and Nathan Lillard.

A Homegoing Celebration will commence at 12:00 Noon Tuesday August 23, 2022 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Eulogist Pastor Curtis Hawkins. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow after at Spring Hill Cemetery.

A public viewing will be held on on Monday August 22, 2022 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St., Danville from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm.
