C.L. Robinson 73, of Danville entered the Gates of Heaven December 29 of 2020 at Kindred Medical Facility in Chicago Illinois. C.L. was born January 21, 1947. Born to Nellie and Oscar Robertson , In White Haven Tennessee. C.L. Married Cornelia Penn in Danville Illinois, October 17, 1968.
C.L. leaves to cherish his loving memories his wife of 52 years, Cornelia Robinson of Danville, son, David Robinson of Phoenix, AZ, daughter Erica Robinson of Danville. One sister, Evelyn (Johnny) Whetstone of Danville. Three brothers, William (Anne) Robertson of Danville, Clarence (Ora) Robertson of West Memphis Ar., Robin (Margret)Robertson of Memphis Tennessee, grandchildren, Dahjae Robinson, Anniiya Robinson both of Phoenix Arizona, Jamar Robinson, Alexis Robinson, Raven Johnson and Cameron Johnson all of Danville. Austin King of Danville, Ashley McClure of Dallas Texas, Alisa McClure of Indianapolis IN., Keyara Wilson of Indianapolis IN., Three great grand children Za’Khyia, Ka’liyah, and Devon all of Danville. A special niece Connie Gatewood of Memphis TN and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. C.L. was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, his presents Nellie and Oscar Robertson, two brothers Oscar Robertson Jr., Ruben Robinson, four sisters Jean Williams, Luicille King, Mattie Fletcher, and Myrtle Patterson.
C.L graduated from Wonder High School in West Memphis Arkansas before coming to Danville, where he met and married the love of his life. C.L.
Retired from General motors after 40 years he didn’t like not working which led him to work for Danville School District 118 at North East Elementary until he eventually retired from the school district. After retiring he enjoyed working in his upholstery business, coaching football, cooking, barbecuing, telling his old wise tale ‘s, telling his life stories from down south, joking and spending time with his wife and family, watching football and basketball games and overall more than anything he enjoyed and adored his 3 great grandchildren “they’re just too busy but they keep me going” as he would say. C.L. Was free loving spirit and he enjoyed his life with a smile and a huge contagious bubbly laugh that will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of the Life will commence at 12:00 Noon, Friday January 8, 2021 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home. A Viewing will be held from 11:00 am until the time of the service. Officiating: Pastor Steve Gilbert.
A public viewing will also take place Thursday January 7, 2021 from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm. at the funeral home.
Due to CDC regulations, Attendance restrictions will be enforced.
