Brenda Lynn Hemphill

Brenda Lynn Hemphill passed this life on September 8, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital at the age of 61. Brenda was born on April 28, 1961, to Robert Phelps and Louvenia Phelps in Chicago IL. She was the youngest of seven children.

Brenda was very passionate and strong willed. She was the type of person that spoke her mind. She cared deeply about her friends and family.

Brenda enjoyed working on cross word puzzles, playing the slot machines, catching fish, bonding with her grandchildren, walking around outside, as well as listening to music. She loved to worship and go to church where she was a member of Mount Olive  Baptist Church.

Brenda leaves to cherish her memories to her loving husband Ivory Hemphill, children Anthony A. Phelps, Louvenia S. Hemphill, Temika S. Hemphill, and Chemika J. Hemphill. Siblings Andre Robertson, Barber Phelps, Bernard Brown, Ronald Brown,and Russell Brown. Grandchildren Anthony Phelps Jr., Shaunesssy Crider, Brianna Phelps, Leong Crawford, Areanna Crider, Abreanna Crider, 
Cortez Phelps, D’Antione Phelps, D’Allen Davis, Darion Hemphill, A’mira Fitch, Tony Fitch Jr., Ashanti Hemphill, and Achilles Hemphill. As well as a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Robert A. Phelps Jr. and Albert Hale.

A memorial service will commence at 12:00 Noon Saturday September 24, 2022, at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 428 N. Washington St. Eulogist: Rev. Frank McCullough. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service.
