Brandon Parks Obituary

Brandon Lamar Parks, affectionately known as "B" was born May 31st, 1987, in Chicago, IL to Ricky Parks and Michel Hart.Brandon began his education in Richmond, Virginia. He attended middle school and high school in Danville, IL, and went to college in Carbondale Illinois where he received an associate’s degree.Brandon was a member of and baptized at St. James Freewill Baptist Church, Danville, IL in 1997. He has known God all of his life.

 

Brandon has always had a love for music, dancing, and singing, these were his passions. He began his career at the tender age of 5in Richmond, Virginia, participating in the City's Star Search Program where he was chosen as the most talented singer in hisage group and would continue performing until he moved toDanville, IL at the age of 10. He joined the Northridge Redcoats show choir in middle school under the direction of Jan Voorheesand The Danville High School Delegation Show choir under the direction of Marty Lindvahl. He went on later to join an eliteMaster Class dance group and traveled to France to perform. He has performed at the DLO Theater and the Fischer Theater showcasing his talents with a host of other talented performers.Brandon has participated in numerous amounts of stage plays andmusicals. Most would consider him a local celebrity in Danville and is well known for his karaoke rendition of "Purple Rain","Sweet Home Chicago" and "Fever". You could always count on Brandon to make you smile and be the life of the party.

 

Brandon was loved by so many people and was the nicest person you ever wanted to meet. He had the spirit of an angel, always loving, giving, and caring. His logic, wisdom and kindness made him a pleasure to be around. He was quick to fulfill the need ofothers, if you were sick, down or depressed, he always had just thething to make you feel better. He was a very giving soul, rather it was nurturing the sick, providing transportation or sharingwhatever he had to help those in need. Brandon was also a great cook and didn't hesitate to make his favorite Lemon Lush Pie asone of his many love offerings.

 

Brandon's biggest joy in his life came in 2019 when his daughter,Alyra Belle Louise Parks was born; she was truly the love of hislife. He loved her with every fiber of his being. He shared with his mother that he finally understood what it meant to love someone unconditionally and with your whole heart and was grateful to Godfor the gift of parenthood. He is eternally grateful to the mother of his child, Andrea Troxel for this blessing.

 

Brandon leaves to cherish his memories and legacy: His Mother, Michel Rivers-Smith (Harold); His Father, Ricky Parks (Claretha); His Paternal and Maternal Grandparents, Julia L. Wynn (Andrew) and Vivian Hart (Albert); His many Aunts and Uncles; His favorite Uncle, Tyrone Hart (Betty); His God Parents, Donald & Mildred Williams; His honorary Aunts and Uncles, Neil Hickman (Charmaine), Laverne Brown and Evon Mahone; His siblings, IkeaWells (Bryant), Angela Cooper (Willie), Lavon Taylor,Shallemanda Taylor, Leverne Rivers III, and Lanea Anglin; Hisbeautiful baby-girl, Alyra Belle Louise Parks and the mother of his child, Andrea Troxel. Thank you to Marty Lindvahl, his musicteacher who taught him and nurtured his music career; His best buddies: Andrew Jennings, Clarence Heard, and Danni Muldrew; His cousins; and, countless amount of friends.

 

A very Special Thank you to David Schroeder, Brandon's lifelongfriend, and roommate. Thank you for being such a great friend,beautiful soul, and caring human being. David referred to Brandon as the son he never had.

 

A Celebration of Life Will Commence at 1:30 pm Saturday October 8, 2022 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Eulogist: Pastor Thomas Miller. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
