Bobby Eugene Morton Sr., 90, of 625 N. Kimball St, Danville., passed this life at 1:47am Tuesday (October 22, 2024) at the VA Illiana Care System, Danville
He was born May 7, 1934, in Danville, the son of Charles (Buster) Morton Sr, and Charlesetta Martin-Morton. Bobby was raised by his Grandmother Mary Martin and his Aunt Bessie House. He had 1 sibling, a brother, Charles Morton Jr. (Tiny)
Bobby worked at the Brown Derby restaurant and retired from R&S Printing Co. also known as Kowa Printing. He attended Elmwood and Cannon grade schools and graduated from Danville High School. Mr. Morton was a Marine, stationed in California. He married Beverly Lillard; they had one daughter Debra Swafford (Sherrod) who resides in Danville.
After his tour in the Marines, he married Mary Lee Hurt-Morton, to this union came 3 daughters, Carol Morton, Charlesetta (Tina) Morton, and Stormi Morton; 2 sons Bobby Morton Jr, and Cory Morton. He also raised 2 of his granddaughters, Mauresha (Henry) Graham, and Shauntell Murray.
Bobby enjoyed sports, (Basketball, and Football) and especially watching sports. He had deep love for jazz and was known for his large jazz collection. He also loved being a Pawpaw and was a father figure to most of his grandkids.
He has a total of 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Bobby is survived by lots of friends and family and preceded by his parents, grandmother, aunt, and brother.
A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Wednesday October 30, 2024 at New Life Church of Faith 1419 N. Bowman Ave. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will be at Danville National Cemetery.
A open viewing will begin at 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm Tuesday October 29, 2024 at Leek & Sons Funeral Home 304 E. Williams St.
