Barbara Allen

Barbara Allen (Collins) was born on October 1, 1948,in Greensville, Mississippi to Peter Collins and Alberta (Goings) Collins. The family relocated to Danville, Illinois when Barbara was three years old.  She was married to Tyrone Allen of Terre Haute, Indiana.

Barbara attended Danville schools. She accepted Christ at an early age when she was a member of the St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church in Danville, Illinois. She was currently a member of Mount Calvery Baptist Church in Indianapolis, IN. Barbara was loved and respected by a host of friends. She was dependable and she did not mind helping in any way she could.

Barbara was known as a hard worker. She worked as a CNA for forty plus years at Danville Care Nursing home in Danville, Illinois as well as Robin Run Nursing Home and Bloom Assistant living in Indianapolis, Indiana. She enjoyed taking care of the elderly.

There were other things that she enjoyed such as listening to music, spending time with friends and family. She also loved watching television game shows. She connected daily with her God in the morning by reading a daily devotion and writing what he spoke to her through the devotional in a journal. 

Barbara leaves a legacy of loving memories to be cherished by her two sons Gregory (Michele) Allen, Tyrone Allen of Danville, IL; one daughter Anissa Allen of Indianapolis, IN; Three sisters Mary Franklin and Tracey Givens of Indianapolis, IN; Nancy (John) Chapman of Omaha NE; Four grandchildren

Andrede’ Newsome and Javion Williams of Tucker GA, Shaina Allen of Danville, IL and Markiya Allen of Indianapolis, IN; One great grandson Andrede’ Newsome Jr; Special uncle Thomas Goings Sr. and a host of relatives and friends. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter Collins and Alberta (Goings) Collins, three brothers Tommy Collins, Terry Collins and Peter Collins and her uncle Qudella (Joe) Johnson of Elkhart, IN.

A celebration of life will commence at 12:00 Noon Friday June 14, 2024 at Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church 423 N Washington Danville Il, 61832. Eulogist: Evangelist Janet Stepter. Visitation will begin at 11:00 am until the time of the service. Burial will follow at Springhill Cemetery.
