Ayanna K. Swain

Ayanna Swain was born on November 18, 1979, in Hoffman Estates, IL, to loving parents Joe Swain and Dorothy Kinard.

She found the Lord at an early age and attended Transformation Church in Oklahoma.  Her favorite scripture as a child was John 3:16.  She memorized it at age 5 or 6.

Ayanna attended Champaign Schools and graduated from Centennial High School.

She moved to Texas with hopes of opening her own business in Houston.  Ayanna worked for the Houston Housing Authority as a Job + Career Coach for the past year and a half. Her favorite hobbies were party planning, crafts, interior design, nails, estate, and reading.  

Ayanna departed this life on June 14, 2023, in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents and great-grandparents. 

She leaves to cherish her memory, son, DaMarco Perry; daughter, Jai’Priy Perry (Michael A. Martin III); brothers, Warren Garrett, Steve Johnson, and James Wright; best friend/sister, Sarrindia Clark; grandchildren, Key’Mani Perry, A’Sante Perry, and Azymondias Martin; and, a host of family and friends.

Her last text to DaMarco read, "Morning, Son.  Even with your flaws and insecurities, you are full of possibilities. Don't doubt yourself. It's time to activate what God has always known about you."

She will be missed by all who loved her.

A celebration of life will commence at 11:00 am Friday June 30, 2023 at Chruch of the Living God, 312 E. Bradley Ave., C. Pastor James Wright will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m until the time of the service. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Urbana.
