Augustus Rebecca Sloan transitioned from earth to glory on April 12th, 2023, at Amita Mercy Center Hospital. Augustus aka Becca, Bobbie, Gus and Gussie was born to Oliver A. and Fannie Mae (Jones) Davis Sr. August 31st, 1947, in Portageville, MO.
Augustus graduated from Danville High School Class of 1965. Augustus received her certification from Illinois Institute of Management. Following graduation, she attended and graduated from Governor's State Accreditation College. Augustus was a case manager for Aurora Housing Authority, and she implemented, lobbied for now known as HUD housing. She was assistant of Senator Robert McClary. She was joyful and loved member of Fox Valley Kickers Club. Augustus was meek in Spirit, yet a woman who walked in assurance of who she was; proud, strong, and resilient. She was a proud mother and grandmother. A lover of all sports but her favorite was baseball. A woman of knowledge and wisdom she loved life, she bought joy and light wherever she went. A true vessel of honor to those who know her.
She was predeceased by her parents, Oliver Anderson and Fannie Mae (Jones) Davis Sr.; four brothers, Oliver A. Davis Jr., Richard V. Davis, Sr., Donald Hollis and George W. Davis; a nephew, Jamaule D. Davis and great grandson, Kevin T. Jones II.
Surviving are her children; John Christopher (Sylke) Sloan, Courtney Fitzgerald Sloan, her daughter and caregiver Dea Marcedra (Mark) Snoddy, grandchildren, Quinta S. (Dameon) Gipson, Julian (Charlina) Sloan, Alicia Sloan, Jolanda Sloan, Nicole Fox, Dahmani L. Underwood and Irie A. Underwood; special nieces, Jafaye S. Lillard and Nina L. Jackson; siblings, Wister (Helen) Davis, Walter (Dorothy) Davis, Varence (Clifford) Davis-Cowen, Gwen O. Davis- Simms, James E. (Joscelyn) Davis and Wanda Kirkland and a host of family and friends.
Memorial services will be held at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Place Aurora, IL 60506 on May 6th, 2023 wake at 11am-Noon with services immediately following from Noon- 1pm. Repass at Fox Valley Kickers, 1015 Harvey Rd. Oswego, IL 60543. May 13th Memorial services at Leek and Sons 304 E. Williams Danville, IL 61832.
